Dr. King won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 at age thirty-five. He was the youngest guy, second American, and third black guy to become granted the Nobel Peace Prize. James Earl Ray assassinated Dr. King on April 4, 1968 while standing outdoors on his motel balcony in Memphis, Tennessee.
