Cancer. You will find a lot of special nurses with numerous talents that affected my decision, but cancer is actually where this student’s nursing path started.

Marian StudentsWe received the first call using the outcomes of my hubby Cameron’s tests on April Fool’s Day's 2010, that was ironic once we spent the following six several weeks wanting the phone call was some horrible joke.

After ending up in the oncologist for confirmation and diagnosis, finish-stage pancreatic cancer, Cam and that i left adhering to one another. Stupefied and numb using the words, “Get your things so as, this normally takes your existence.” Surreal and hazy ideas filled the brain once we walked lower the hall to satisfy using the nurses who'd handle his care.

Nurse Corps LogoRight from the start it had been apparent these nurses weren’t there simply to treat an illness. These were there to deal with my hubby. In Cam they saw not really a diagnosis, however a guy, a husband, a parent, boy, brother and friend. They saw a brave and amazing person.

Empathy, knowledge, skill, strength, support, hugs and tears, all were shared generously and thus began my journey, my ambitious to become for other people what these beautiful people have been for all of us.

With the fight which was is the last six several weeks of my husband’s time around, our way of life broadened to incorporate nurses from a lot of disciplines: oncology, radiology, emergency, operating room, anesthesia, home health, hospice, and much more.

Within each we found solutions, advocates, support, and sincere take care of our fight. Cancer is really a fight, a war that's fought against with human emotion around with chemotherapy or radiation. I was fortunate with nurses that does not only understood the fight, but were outfitted by having an toolbox of abilities along with a courageous, tireless dedication. They faced the fight around at each step.
