In what manner do Romeo and Juliet break gender conventions? How can these roles fluctuate through the play?

At the outset of the play, the youthful lovers' behavior reverses common gender conventions – Romeo functions in ways that his buddies call feminine, while Juliet exhibits masculine characteristics. Romeo is in no way an archetypal Elizabethan guy he's disinterested in saying his physical energy such as the other male figures within the play. Rather, Romeo selects to stew in the pensive melancholy. On several instances, Romeo's buddies claim that his introspective behavior is effeminate. However, Juliet exhibits a far more pronounced feeling of agency than most female figures in Shakespeare's time. As the women round her, like her mother, blindly act in compliance with The almighty Capulet's wishes, Juliet happily expresses her opinion. Even if she's lost a fight (like when The almighty Capulet demands she consider getting married to Paris), she demonstrates a shrewd capability to deflect attention without carrying out to anything. In her own relationship with Romeo, Juliet clearly takes charge by insisting on marriage and suggesting the program to unite them. Because the play progresses, Romeo begins to get out of his pensive inaction to the stage that Mercutio notices this transformation. Romeo also constitutes a great change from his cowardly attempt for suicide in Act III to his willful decision in Act V. Overall, Romeo and Juliet are perhaps a great match since they're so distinct. Juliet is headstrong, while Romeo is passive until passion strikes and inspires him to action.
